Also drew a dripping yellow dragon fruit to replace the face because I despise drawing faces and went with a Rene Magritte inspiration. Next I’ve begun coloring the yellow dragon fruit using a mix of neon colored pencils with various tones of yellows, blues and greens and turned on the blacklight to give it its funky look. I like neon effects to any canvas.

Added some pink highlights to the yellow dragonfruit to give it some flare..color for the ropes?

The color for the ropes selection is pink with orange and blue likely purple overtones, the darker color for shading.

Already created a golden moon texture with peeks of yellow neon. I enjoy working with neon colored pencils because of their psychedelic qualities.

Next, skin tone of the body..this process required some research, so I did that.

Cooler colors first then layer with warmer colors, lightly and carefully is key to prevent it from looking muddy. Again constantly sharpen pencils to achieve sharpness to the subject matter. Then I added fluorescent inks to create drippings from the yellow dragonfruit.

To create mystical energy to it, I added Balinese and Chinese style clouds with various neon greens colored pencils.

“Xanthe” Without the blacklight

I titled the artwork “Xanthe” but found out it’s mostly a feminine name but my subject matter is male, so it sticks- unisex name. I sketch what I want to be on the canvas but I never follow through and it’s okay.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the artwork and it’ll be featured in “SAFEWORD”, an erotic showcase in ALTR Gallery, an affiliate of Otherworldly Arts Collective in Minneapolis, MN February 13 & 14, 2026 featuring Queer Circus, Alchemy After Hours and Shibari Cirque.
